Pregnancy is an amazing journey that every woman should enjoy and cherish. However, because of the coronavirus outbreak, the pregnancy during the COVID season was wrapped with fear, anxiety, and uncertainty not only for themselves but for their unborn child as well.

In this season, nanays who are pregnant during COVID are supposed to undergo further precautionary measures to ensure their safety and not being infected by the virus. This is why I am writing this article today to share with you the pregnancy precautions that every pregnant woman should do during the coronavirus pandemic.

Basic Precautionary Measures

Maintain a strong immune system

As the cure is yet to be discovered, all pregnant women need to eat healthier meals as much as they can. Also, they can ask their Ob-Gyne for multivitamins that they can take to boost their immune system. As we all know, this is one of the most basic steps to do to avoid being infected with the virus.

Maintain clean surroundings

Always disinfect your surroundings. Whenever a family member will go outside, ensure to disinfect their shoes, wash their clothes immediately and let them take a bath or thoroughly wash their hands before coming into the house; this way you can remove all bacterias that they have gathered from staying outside.

Clean all grocery before storing it in your pantry

Whether you are pregnant or not, it is very important to clean your groceries even if you purchased them through online shopping or grocery store. We still don’t know where the products come from or if they are well sanitized before letting the public purchase it.

Now is the time to be extra-“praning”, mommies. Triple check everything, there’s nothing wrong with being overacting at the moment.

Ways to be Safe when going outside

Golden Rule: Pregnancy during COVID Season is uncertain. Do not go outside if you don’t have to. If your ob-gyne can do house check-ups or online check-ups, that will be the best option for you to avoid being in contact with the outside world. Stay isolated as much as you can to protect yourself and your baby.

For office-based moms, opt to work from home as much as possible

As the government recommended companies to do skeletal workforce or work from home, if your job can be done at home, might as well take advantage of it. Talk to your manager and let them know how helpful will that be to stay at home for you and your baby’s health.

Manage to do every errand you can when you go outside

This is what I do all the time- I make the most out of my errand day, I make sure to do everything when I go out so I can limit myself from going out which increases the chances of being infected.

Here’s a tip: Write all your errands. Sure enough most pregnant moms are experiencing “pregnancy brain” and to avoid forgetting the most important things, writing them down is an ideal way to do.

Maintain social distancing and avoid staying from crowded areas

When going out, make sure to do your errand as early as you can so that you will meet fewer people along the way. Hence, a lower chance to be exposed to COVID-19

Wear a face mask and always bring alcohol or sanitizer

As we are unsure when or how we will be infected with COVID-19 whether it’s in the air or air droplets, it is ideal to wear a face mask, this will decrease the chance to be exposed with COVID-19. Also, use alcohol or sanitizer from time to time most especially whenever you tend to touch objects that you aren’t sure if it’s sanitized or not.

Whether you are pregnant or not, these precautionaries are really important to ensure your safety and are free with COVID-19. It’s much better to be extra safe than be sorry for later.
