How long after you get out of a nail salon does your manicure and pedicure lasts? For me, most of the time, just 5 minutes. Some other days, it would get ruined before I even step out the door.
On July 14, 2017, I attended the Grand Opening of the new branch of Nailaholics in Unimart Greenhills, together with its sister companies, Ooh La Lash and Hey Sugar (click to read more about my experiences on those stores).
My Nailaholics Experience
I arrived at the venue by 10am. While waiting, the nail technicians are very accommodating to the point that they’re arranging the pillows at my back and head, and giving me magazines to keep me comfortable and occupied while they prepare their tools for my availed services.
While getting my nails done, I noticed they are quiet. Maybe letting me relax and at peace. Though, when I started breaking the ice and chatting with them, they really conversed with me and entertain me even more by joking around.
I had enjoyed my stay in Nailaholics, not just I get pampered but I also got new acquaintances. Truly, I experienced real pampering! 😉
How to Extend the life of your Manicure/Predicure
I’ve always loved taking care of my nails since most people tell me I have really nice and strong nails. I can even make it long without breaking. However, my only problem is when I had my manicure/pedicure done, it gets ruined really really fast. Since as a wife, I always do chores and most of them requires my hands to get soaked.
So how can we really extend the life of our cute and adorable manicure and pedicure? Here are some helpful tips from the nail expert from the newly opened Nailaholics Unimart Greenhills:
-
Make sure your nails are moisturized before getting your manicure. Hydrated nail beds cause less nail breakage and chips.
-
Always use a base coat before painting colour on. This protects your nails from staining and also acts as a great adhesive for the polish ensuring lasting colour.
-
Apply thin coats of polish with every stroke. It dries quickly and doesn’t cause bubbles.
-
Wait a couple of minutes between each coat to make sure the nail polish adheres properly to its base.
-
A horizontal swipe across the tip of your nails after your final coat, along the edge, seals the colour in and protects your nails against chipping.
-
If you’re rushing, dip your tips in ice cold water to harden the nail polish quicker.
-
To extend the life (and shine) of your manicure, apply really thin coats of topcoat every other day.
-
Be sure to wear gloves while doing the dishes — water expands the nail bed and causes nail polish to chip.
-
Cuticle oil helps freshen up your manicure and moisturize your hand.
-
Be careful when applying skin care products. Certain types can cause nail polish to dull and discolour like sunscreen and mosquito repellents.
